Dry season and green season

Costa Rica is close to the equator, so temperatures change more with altitude than with the season. On the coasts, days are hot (around 27–33 °C); in the Central Valley they are mild; in Monteverde and on the volcanoes they are cool. The dry season runs from about December to April on the Pacific side and in the Central Valley. The green season, from May to November, usually brings sunny mornings and afternoon showers, with the heaviest rain in September and October.
